Students at Nidderdale High School have once again achieved some fantastic GCSE results.
Results in the core subjects were strong with 83% of students achieving A*-C grades in English and 77% in Maths. Overall, 65% of students achieved at least 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths.
Students performed well across a wide range of subjects. In 12 subject areas this lead to pass rates of at least 90% A*-C, including Biology, Chemistry and Physics, French, German and History. The school’s EBacc performance of 34% is, once again, expected to be well above national average.
Many students reached the highest grades available, with over 50% of all students gaining at least one A* or A grade. Further contributing to the school’s overall success are some notable individual performances including: Joe Wilson, Olivia Jones and April Taylor with 10 A*/A grades, Helen Jennings achieved 9 A*/A grades whilst Jack Harker and Bertram Richards both gained 7A*/A grades.
Outgoing Headteacher, Ian Simpson said, “the students and staff at Nidderdale deserve this brilliant news of the results and I am proud of everyone's achievements. We have also invested over £250,000 upgrading the facilities this summer which will really improve the students’ school experience and I look forward to keeping in touch with the school and my friends in the community which will always have a special place in my heart."
New Heads of School, Kath Jordan and Siân Dover said, “We are enormously proud of the achievements of our students this year and thank staff for their hard work to ensure students at Nidderdale continue to make excellent progress. We would also like to thank parents and Governors for their continued support. We both look forward to building on these successes as the school moves forward. We are very encouraged by the results achieved by our Year 10 students, who have already taken GCSEs in French (100% A*-C), German (94% A*-C) and RE (85% A*-C).”
