Nidderdale High School is, once again, celebrating excellent GCSE results, continuing their track record of success with another set of ‘best ever’ results.
Overall, 70% of students achieved at least 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths. This is a 5% increase on last year’s results.
Students performed well across a wide range of subjects. In 6 subject areas this led to pass rates of 100% A*-C. A further 8 subjects including EBacc subjects, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, French, German and History, recorded A*-C results of at least 85%. The school’s EBacc performance of 39% is another school record.
For the second successive year, over 50% of all students gained at least one A* or A grade, with many attaining multiple A/A* grades. Some notable individual performances include: Molly Richardson who achieved 11 A*/A grades; Jesse Brockhill, Regan Downer, Nelly Fenton, and Tom Wright with 10 A*/A grades each; Faye Caswell and Sophie Rizos achieved 7 A*/A grades each, whilst Rebecca Firenyi gained 6 A grades.
Tom was so pleased with his results, he could only say, “I’m speechless!” Rebecca added, “I’m delighted because I was not expecting such good results.” All three students are going on to Sixth Form at Harrogate Grammar to study for A Levels.
Heads of School, Kath Jordan and Siân Dover reflected on the success the school has achieved this year. Kath Jordan said, “Whilst we are enormously proud of the A*-C results this year, we are equally proud of the progress made by every individual in the school. A great many students have exceeded national expectations in a wide range of subjects and we look forward to seeing this reflected in the new Progress 8 measure to be released later in the year.”
Siân Dover continued, “The school goes from strength to strength and this is not only reflected in these fantastic exam results but also in the continued increase in the number of families choosing to join Nidderdale High School. We would like to congratulate the students who have worked so hard for their success and to thank staff, parents and Governors for their continued support.”
